Being the third grade student at junior high school, I thought that when I graduated I wanted to study at a senior high school. Things did not turn out the way one wish. My parents said if I had been a senior high school student, I should have gone to cram school to study Math because I wasn’t good at it. Therefore I chose to study at Institute of Technology, where my job as student was broadening my knowledge and trying to do my best. I wanted to major in English but my scores of entrance exam were was not good enough, so I majored in Business Administration. I wasn’t interested in the courses arranged there, especially in Accounting. It was too difficult to study. I heard students who were not interested their major, they could transfer to another major. How lucky I was, I transferred to the Department of Applied Foreign Languages.
When I majored in English, I was so happy. But on the other, I afraid my English wasn’t good enough. First of all, some professional subjects were difficult to me. When time went by I felt they were easier than before. Every student who studied at Department of Applied Foreign Languages, had to choose French or Japanese to be minor. I chose Japanese because it was popular and easy to learn than French.
I took much courses, my favorite is English teaching method. It was an interesting and a challenge to me. According to the policy of school, I had an opportunity to teach English at elementary school. At beginning, students were talkative and mischievous but with my and my classmates’ patient teaching they studied hard. To the end of semester, they sent us gifts; although the gifts were inexpensive, their behaviors made us feel moved. This course was very painstaking, but I still learn something not from textbooks.
Being a student at Institute of Technology, I had learned a lot of knowledge. They were not only from textbook but also from life experiences. I also had some good friends; the memory in the Institute of Technology will never be forgetten.

My Hometown
I am from Gangshan, a small city located in the southwest of Kaoshiung County. The weather in Gangshan is hot and warm during all year round. Gangshan is a city famous for its local craft of making the " Wicker Basket Market." It is a traditional practice that had a history of more than two hundred years since the Japanese ruled in Taiwan. It is held three times on the lunar calendar in every year. There is special commemoration significance in each time. We also have some famous products including honey, spicy bean sauce, and mutton. Gangshan has local folk color as well as historic and cultural custom. I love my city and I think you will, too. If you have free time, come to visit Gangshan.

Describing people - Myself
My name is Amanda. I am a young woman of average height and weight. I have hazel eyes and frequently tie my long wavy brown hair in a ponytail. I wear a black watch with leather on my wrist having some boring pimples and pocks on my chin. I like to wear T-shirts and jeans with a pair of sports shoes because I feel this style is comfortable and convenient to me.
I am an easygoing and a positive person. For instance, if you understand me, you know that I am easy to get along with. As the oldest child in my family, I developed independent personality to me. When I get into troubles I try and learn how to solve the problems and handle the situation. So that it is a good way to train me into a motivated and responsible person.
